The design is based on the urban planning model, which is characterized by the structuring oft he buildings into pedestal storeys and high points. But our design reduces the pedesal storeys to their essential and the possible cubatur delibaretely does not get fully used. As a matter of fact, the buildings get a minor &dbquo;footprint&dbquo;, in favor of an enlargement of the open space. It also leads to a better exposure and a wing depth, which allow a higher room quality. We delibaretely moved away from the building line oft he park, so that the central open space increases noticeably.
North and south „sharp„ edges are formed tot he public street space. On the inside – to the park and to the north-south development – „soft„ edges are formed. By designing the buildings as open, permeable „shells„, instead of built volumes, soft transitions result in the inside, which mark floating interfaces between private and public.
The reference to the open spaces of the surrounding buildings gets included by the green developments. Alogn one of these developments, a big common room is located on the ground floor, functioning as a link between the districts.
The five diverse ellaborated houses are based on the same reduced, concentrated design: compact structures, positive surface/volume ratio, simple structural systems, repetitive window formats, compact developments. The buildings form into three pedestal storeys with different contents: the active-, the generation-, and the residiantial pedestal storey.
Upmost attention is paid to the apartment-related open spaces. All buildings are based on the same basic attitude: well usable spacious open spaces as private "oasis"". Within house 2 and 3 this is achieved by balconies as "alltoment gardens" - with their own planting pot and "garden shed".
